Draymond Green calls out Rudy Gobert and Timberwolves’ lack of belief following big loss to Nuggets in Game 5
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Draymond Green made an appearance on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” and said he believes that the Denver Nuggets have won the series against the Minnesota Timberwolves after they took a 3-2 lead last night. The Nuggets have now won three straight games after they trailed 2-0, including a crucial 112-97 win in Game 5.

Green was of the opinion that the T-Wolves were in disarray as they no longer had a chance to win the series. He went further to criticize the 2024 DPOY Rudy Gobert for being outplayed by Nikola Jokic and noted that the team’s body language suggests they’ve lost confidence.

You need to get a stop. Karl-Anthony Towns is actually doing a pretty good job when he’s on Joker. It’s you [Gobert] my man that’s getting cooked so there’s no 'we'. Yes you do need help from other guys but on some of those, they can’t help you. You just gotta get a stop. Number two, when you’re in a playoff series, for me, I’m always looking for the smallest ounce of weakness I can find… When you lose belief it’s over. They don’t believe they can win anymore which means this series is over. Draymond Green said on Inside the NBA:

Furthermore, Draymond Green also pointed out that when players start criticizing their teammates, it’s a sign of trouble. He also believed that the Timberwolves have lost their belief in winning the series, which meant it was over.

However, there’s still Game 6 to play, and the Timberwolves need to prove Green wrong. So far, their performance hasn’t inspired hope among fans and analysts, and they need to turn things around to stay in the fight.

Rudy Gobert criticizes Rudy Gobert’s defense against the Denver Nuggets

Draymond Green also criticized Rudy Gobert’s defense against Nikola Jokic during Game 5 of the Nuggets-Timberwolves playoff series. Green mocked Gobert’s efforts and said he was getting “barbecue chicken” and struggling to contain Jokic.

Barbecue chicken is happening. It's happening. Listen, this has been the matchup everybody wanted to see, DPOY versus MVP. And right now, Rudy Gobert don't stand a chance. The problem he's having is, he's hitting him with bodies and giving him all the footwork. And Rudy Gobert is struggling, he's bringing him out on the floor, moving Joker all around the floor, putting him through strings. Draymond Green added

The four-time NBA champion’s comments are the latest in a long-standing rivalry between him and Gobert, with Green known for questioning Gobert’s defensive prowess. However, despite Gobert’s reputation as a formidable defender, Jokic has consistently found success against him.

Furthermore, the matchup between The Joker and Gobert will be one to watch in Game 6, with Green’s comments adding an extra layer of intrigue to the ongoing rivalry. The reigning MVP’s exceptional scoring, playmaking, and efficiency have made him one of the most feared players in the league.
